Incidents that occur in a UGA study abroad setting should be reported through the online International Incident Report (https://fs2.formsite.com/GeneralFormsSite/form27/) or by contacting the UGA Police Department at 706-542-2200. Incidents that occur domestically should be reported using the Domestic Field Study Incident Report Form (https:// tinyurl.com/2numhkc7). Participants are expected to report any incidents as soon as possible, including medical issues, mental health concerns, safety or security events, or any situation that may impact participant well-being.
The University System of Georgia (USG) provides comprehensive international travel medical insurance through Gallagher/Zurich (https://studyaway.uga.edu/index.cfm?FuseAction=Abroad.ViewLink&Parent_ID=91E33733-5056-BA1F-740E63BC0ABD9959&Link_ID=841BAA78-FF08-0E4B-9945B52583B602B4) for all students, faculty, and staff participating in
UGA-sponsored study abroad programs, as well as UGA employees traveling abroad for business.
Enrollment in this coverage is required for all participants. OnCall International offers 24/7 medical and security assistance, and travelers can access plan details, ID cards, and claim forms through the My Benefits and Plan Information page (https://student.gallagherstudent.com/317) or by emailing global@gallagherstudent.com with questions. For incidents requiring medical care outside of designated program locations, travelers should seek care from local healthcare providers and follow insurance guidance.
UGA is committed to supporting students, faculty, and staff during and after incidents by connecting individuals to appropriate medical, mental health, and academic resources. Travelers are expected to prepare in advance by attending required pre-departure orientations, reviewing health and safety guidance, and ensuring they have access to emergency contact information and insurance materials. Throughout the year, the UGA Office of Global Engagement offers workshops for faculty and staff supporting study abroad programs. All students participating in global experiential learning are required to attend pre-departure orientations, and additional information can be obtained by contacting the Office of Global Engagement at 706-542-2900.
