The UGA Gwinnett Campus is dedicated to providing a safe and secure learning environment. A security guard on campus will escort people to their cars late at night. Stop by the security desk in the building lobby to request an escort.
The Gwinnett Campus is a public building. To help maintain the safety of the building, please:
- Do not prop locked building doors open for others to use.
- Keep your personal belongings near you or locked in your trunk at all times. Don’t leave your belongings out and unattended while you’re in the building, and don’t leave belongings in plain sight in your car.
- Leave valuables at home. If you don’t need it for class, don’t bring it with you.
- Use a security officer, if available, to escort you to your vehicle at night.
A key component of the campus safety structure is the system for assessing concerning or problematic student behavior. This responsibility is overseen by the Gwinnett Campus Director, who plays a crucial role in monitoring and responding to situations that may require intervention.
Access control and building security are also essential elements of campus safety. Lincoln Property Management oversees the security infrastructure of the Intellicenter building—managing alarms, monitoring security systems, and maintaining building access schedules—while internal UGA Gwinnett door locks are handled by Perry Kiser, the facilities coordinator.
The building is open to the public Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. After-hours access is restricted to property management staff, UGA Gwinnett employees, and authorized tenant management teams. These procedures help maintain a secure environment while accommodating the needs of the campus community.

The Gwinnett Campus maintains a clear and effective process for issuing Emergency Notifications and Timely Warnings.

Emergency Notifications and Timely Warnings for the Gwinnett Campus are determined by the Director or a designee.
These decisions rely on guidance from the Office of Emergency Preparedness and notifications from UGA Police. Notifications are issued by the Griffin Campus Leadership Team using standardized messages adapted from the UGA Alert System.
A UGA Alert for the Gwinnett Campus would be issued in any situation where physical harm could take place; examples would include active shooter, weather emergency, facility/structure being unsafe to enter.
Emergency Notifications and Timely Warnings are also sent via email. Depending on the situation an email would be issued for a suspicious person or activity, potential adverse weather, or other non-emergency situation where the campus needs to be informed.

UGA Student Affairs hosts a comprehensive well-being resource website at well-being.uga.edu. Students on the Gwinnett Campus can access free digital mental health support options through the UGA Health Center website at https:// healthcenter.uga.edu/digital-mental-health-resources/. Our students can also seek a physical copy of mental health resources from the Gwinnett Communications Coordinator in room 125. The same resources flyer is accessible through Your Gwinnett Portal.
The Student Care and Outreach team is also available for any student experiencing complex, hardship, and/or unforeseen circumstances by providing individualized assistance and tailored interventions. Financial and housing resources
are available for students experiencing hardships: Student Emergency Fund, Embark@UGA, and Graduate Student Emergency Fund.

The Gwinnett Campus Assistant Director, Jill Rhoden, is the Building Safety and Security Representative. The Assistant Director and the members of our Building Safety Team are all trained by the Office of Emergency Preparedness on the UGA Emergency Notification System. The Building Safety team works closely with the Office of Emergency Preparedness to stay updated on safety training.
